What drives me to reach for the things that at times seem out of my grasp, yet clearly in view? Is it my time underwater where the perception of distance is not what we expect and those things we aim for are so tantalisingly close, yet so far? I strive for perfection, but not in the sense that many do, more in a sense of becoming better within myself. My images, whether still or film, represent to the best of my ability, what it is that is close to my heart. Not the closest, because that is reserved for one mermaid, but close all the same. If I could just see for myself each weekend, then that would be enough, but I am driven to share with those that either don’t understand or don’t have the same opportunity as I do. So that is life, that is my lot.
Each weekend you will find me, weather permitting, submerged beneath the water somewhere on the Mornington Peninsula, unless I am lucky enough to be somewhere more exotic. Sometimes I marvel at a multitude of sights that can be found, then other times there may be little to see and the relaxation of it all is what makes it so important, and in case you don’t know, then try imagine what it would be like to float in the sky amongst the clouds. Whether I am diving with my wife Julie, who has come to enjoy the creatures of the ocean just as I have, or diving with my long time dive buddy PT ( http://pinktankscuba.com ) whose OCD for diving would see her immersed permanently if there was an air tank big enough, or if I just dive on my own and float like I am in my own private space, then that is where you will find me when I can. I have simply chosen today to give you just a glimpse of what I saw over two weekends that saw me diving just as I have said above. Life is grand, and I am more than lucky to do what I do. So today here I am, and there you are, and now you can be immersed as well.
So enjoy what I see and know that just because you can’t see it, it doesn’t mean it is not truly wonderful.
Ahhhh, the diving life. Happy to be a mummy to a toddler, but it has thrown my underwater time out of the window somewhat! I may be living vicariously through your blog until such time as I get back to the water!
